Cage-free Carelessness (original poem)

Like a first date, you open my door,

and my tentative eyes explore

your novel face and featured lines

(a frenzy of a familiar kind).

The questions and stories are so old but here so new,

but they don’t even need to be true

Because there is no way you knew,

what came before you approached my door.

Cagefree Carelessness,

Running wild but never free;

but you have not caught up to me.

Our dinner dates are an endless sputtering

of talking and incessant chattering.

Your words are made so carelessly

and brittle they shatter when they hit me.

They don’t pass through my inner ear

while empty creeps slightly more near.

It encompasses my consciousness

and breaks like a tension-ed string without elastic sense.

So I threw you on my bed,

and showed you what you needed.

Cagefree carelessness.

Running wild but never free

But you could never catch up to me,

could you?

You tried so hard to hold my hand,

to jump into my heart and firmly land.

Instead you were tossed among my harsh waves

as you tried to find the love you tried to save.

Did you find it?

Or did you drown?

Does if float

or sink in the swell?

It’s early morning and dawn appears,

the birds are awake but you sleep clear.

As I move away far from this room,

I see your arm lumber outwards from under you,

Heavy with sleep, unconciously seeking

what’s no longer there.

You won’t find it.

Cagefree Carelessness

running wild but never free,

but you will never catch up to me.

In my place

It’s funny how evan familiar music that you have heard half a million times before can speak to you with new purpose at different times in your life. I have listened to the album rush of blood to the head so many times but for some reason today, in my place speaks with new energy.
In my place
Were lines that I couldnt change
I was lost
Oh ya.
How long must you wait for it
How long must you pay for it
How long must you wait for it?
I was scared
Tired and underprepared
But ill wait for it.
If you go if you go
And leave me down here on my own
Then I’ll wait for you ya.
Please please please
Come back and sing to me
Come on and sing it out now now
Come on and sing it out to me to me to me.
In my place there were lines that I couldnt change
I was lost oh yeah

The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope orbits Earth with a complicated motion. This map shows the position of a particular pulsar (the Vela pulsar) inside the field of view of the telescope as it orbits around the Earth rocking north/south; rolls to keep its solar panels facing the Sun; and processes around its axis once ever 54 days. It is a compound of these three motions that gives rise to this image.
